Indicators for Analysing Rural Gentrification for Landscape Assessment

Rural gentrification studies are often centred around socio-economic impacts, while rarely look at gentrifiers tangible effects on the landscape. This study has tried to distinguish a connection between socio-economic development and the landscape. It has thereby provided an overview of rural gentrification indicators based on a comparison between previous case studies. It is suggested that defined indicators have an impact on the landscape although, they often occur on a small scale. In the long term, these small changes may risk a fragmented landscape. To better understand shifts in the rural landscape due to gentrification processes, this study suggests that rural gentrification indicators can be used to foresee and assess change before being gentrified, however, an understanding of a time dimension is sought for.
