Abstract
Despite the volume of works produced on early Islam, it is especially noteworthythe little we still know about the fate of late antique Christian churches after the 7th-century conquest as well as about the impact the monumental and symbolic landscape inherited from Late Antiquity had on the early efforts produced by Muslims to establish and make visible their presence. Though it is somehow difficult to differentiate between the various approaches Muslims had toward existent Christian architecture, this contribution subdivides different cases into three groups: intrusion, parallax, and palimpsest.File in questo prodotto:
