The chapter discusses the evolution of daʿwa (preaching activity) rooted in the associative sphere in post-authoritarian Tunisia, by highlighting how Islamist preachers reconceptualised the ‘missionary role’ of daʿwa in a changing political environment. According to my interlocutors, the mission of daʿwa is a commitment to educate the whole of Tunisian society with the overarching goal of building from below, and in a non-violent way, a more just and equal state based on Islamic principles.

Abstract
The chapter discusses the evolution of daʿwa (preaching activity) rooted in the associative sphere in post-authoritarian Tunisia, by highlighting how Islamist preachers reconceptualised the ‘missionary role’ of daʿwa in a changing political environment. According to my interlocutors, the mission of daʿwa is a commitment to educate the whole of Tunisian society with the overarching goal of building from below, and in a non-violent way, a more just and equal state based on Islamic principles.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
