The paper aims at showing the importance of Schopenhauer's lectures for the genesis of his thought. Contrary to the idea that the lectures of 1820, including those devoted to aesthetics, constitute only a didactic exposition of his philosophy, the paper shows some unprecedented aspects not only in terms of content, but also in terms of style; the latter aspect seems of particular relevance precisely from an aesthetic perspective.
