This chapter analyzes a famous papyrus in the Rylands collection and discusses the diffusion of Manichaeism in Egypt. It proposes a new dating for the papyrus and argues that the letter could have been written by Athanasius of Alexandria or someone close to his milieux.
Il capitolo analizza una fonte di primaria importanza per la storia del Manicheismo, P.Ryl. 3 469. Attraverso una analisi paleografica e storica, l'autrice propone una nuova datazione del papiro e propone una attribuzione della lettera ad Atanasio di Alessandria o a un ecclesiastico del suo entourage.
