The article offers a general overview of the history of the studies concerning the Old Persian calendar and its cultural and technical interrelations with the other contemporary calendrical systems. Furthermore, the article deals with the syntax of the so-called "dating constructions" adopted in Old Persian, particularly in the framework of the official Achaemenian inscriptions, proposing some comparative considerations.
