The present chapter involves a sustained attempt to bring space back into conflict research. It offers an analytical framework to study violent armed conflicts as wider struggles over geography, involving the territorialization of political power around violent reformulations of identity, livelihoods, and access to economic resources. The approach involves both active attention to the notion of geographic scale and a prudent engagement with the ‘fields of practice’ tied to such violent social spaces.

Abstract
The present chapter involves a sustained attempt to bring space back into conflict research. It offers an analytical framework to study violent armed conflicts as wider struggles over geography, involving the territorialization of political power around violent reformulations of identity, livelihoods, and access to economic resources. The approach involves both active attention to the notion of geographic scale and a prudent engagement with the ‘fields of practice’ tied to such violent social spaces.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
