Tables are logical instruments, ideal for recording and teaching pharmacological materials. With the support of three different case studies, this article explores the application of pharmacological tables in different traditions, from the summary of Galen’s On simple drugs to an original composition from the 16th century. Tables also represent a refined tool of Islamic scholarship and bear witness to the elaboration of different technical solutions devised to cope with the problematic issue of manuscript transmission of technical literature.

Abstract
Tables are logical instruments, ideal for recording and teaching pharmacological materials. With the support of three different case studies, this article explores the application of pharmacological tables in different traditions, from the summary of Galen’s On simple drugs to an original composition from the 16th century. Tables also represent a refined tool of Islamic scholarship and bear witness to the elaboration of different technical solutions devised to cope with the problematic issue of manuscript transmission of technical literature.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
