Urban society of the twentieth century is now fully overlapped and doubly-linked with digitalisation, heralding frictions as well as new collective ways of living. Platforming transforms the urbanised planet, finding fertile ‘land’ to flourish. A new interconnected vortex re-shapes this planet: thousands of satellites orbiting around the globe are machines supporting the fabric of contemporary life; the Industrial Revolution 4.0 radically modifies production, distribution and consumption processes; digital technologies amend social reproduction.
