The article traces the biography of Paolo Fabbri (1939-2020), one of Italy's most refined intellectuals. It traces his education in Italy and France. On the other side of the Alps, he has had relations with the main figures of the 21st century, from Baudrillard to Damisch, from Marin to Derrida, etc. Paolo Fabbri is then contextualised within the Italian context in his teaching of Semiotics in Urbino, Bologna, Palermo and Venice. The strongly interdisciplinary impulse he gave to the Semiotics of the Arts is underlined.
