The object of this short essay will be two films, or rather, a television series and a cinema documentary, telling of the period of the Chilean dictatorship and in particular the activities of a subject that has tried to denounce the crimes and to support the victims: the Vicaria de la Solidaridad. The two texts which I refer to are Los archivos del cardenal (The Cardinal’s Archives), a television series, and Habeas corpus, a movie realized in 2015. The two films recount “the same memory”: that of an institution that carried out the very important work of denunciation, resistance, and support for victims of dictatorship. In so doing, they both refer to the same category: that of the archive. But we will see how different are the two kinds of memory they present.
