Le riscritture-mondo

The practice of rewriting, especially in its global dimension, contributes largely to the configuration of World Literature as a space and as a system. This article concentrates on a particular kind of rewriting (which I call world-rewriting) that preferably arises, like postcolonial or contrapuntal rewritings, on the peripheries of cultural power or in the moving zones of migration. And if it is not the context that is markedly peripheral, it is the authors who willingly adopt a "dominated" posture. The clear purpose of these rewritings, however, is to break out of the rigid dichotomy between a hypotext taken as a model (albeit a contested one) and a hypertext that subverts it; to overcome the opposition centre/periphery, canon/voice out of the chorus; to emerge from a fundamentally two-way relationship in order to open up to new configurations. These configurations recall, on the one hand, the ellipsis embodied by World Literature according to David Damrosch and, on the other hand, the rhizomatic filiation evoked by Édouard Glissant.

La pratica della riscrittura, soprattutto nella sua dimensione globale, che qui viene chiamata mondo, contribuisce largamente alla configurazione della World Literature come spazio e come sistema. Oggetto dell’articolo sono le riscritture-mondo che nascono di preferenza, come le riscritture postcoloniali o contrappuntistiche, alle periferie dei centri di potere culturale o nelle zone fluide delle migrazioni. E se non è il contesto ad essere marcatamente periferico, sono gli autori che adottano per loro volontà una postura da “dominati”. L’intento manifesto di queste riscritture è però di uscire dalla rigida dicotomia tra un ipotesto preso come modello (seppure contestato) e un ipertesto che polemizza sovvertendolo; di superare la contrapposizione centro/periferia, canone/voce fuori dal coro; di uscire da un rapporto fondamentalmente a due per aprirsi a nuove configurazioni che ricordano da una parte l’ellissi che embletizza, secondo David Damrosch, la World Literature, e dall’altra la filiazione rizomatica evocata da Édouard Glissant.
