Un’ancora “bizantina” dal mare di Caorle: problemi di cronologia delle ancore di ferro a T

An iron anchor of inverted-T shape, of the so-called 'Byzantine' type, found in the sea of Caorle (Venice), is published. It can be chronologically placed in the 6th or 7th century, due to typological comparisons with other published specimens. The general chronology of this type of anchor is discussed, ranging from the 6th century and the 10th century (with some examples that could be dated even later, in the 12th century).

Viene pubblicata un'ancora in ferro a T rovesciata, del tipo cosiddetto "bizantino", rinvenuta nel mare di Caorle (Venezia). Per confronti tipologici con altri esemplari editi può collocarsi cronologicamente nel VI o VII secolo. Viene discussa la cronologia generale di questa tipologia di ancore, il cui termine alto è costituito dal VI secolo, quello basso dal X secolo (con alcuni esempi che potrebbero scendere fino al XII).
