Communist influence practices over Western Europe have been in the center of attention of both contemporaries and scholars since a long time. However, the part played by Soviet embassies in propaganda issues abroad still remains obscure and controversial. This article is dealing with this topic on the example of transnational mobilization campaign led by the Soviet authorities in multiple countries and focused on the Industrial Party trial – a big high treason show trial staged in Moscow in 1930. Based on the cross-analysis of various types of Soviet and French sources, including unique diplomatic archives of the former USSR, this paper questions the implication of Soviet diplomats in this campaign in France.
