Abstract
Napoleon and his reforms laid the foundations for the renewal of the school in Italy, which was subjected to radical changes later maintained by the restored governments. To extend primary education, the interventions centered on the textbook. This editorial product embodies educational, political and commercial issues and in those decades began to develop a defined and modern physiognomy. In Bologna, a city with an ancient didactic vocation, almost all printers, publishers and booksellers joined that palatable market: an almost unknown world, now rediscovered with the use of unpublished documents. Their precious allies were the elementary teachers, who wrote manuals in increasing quantities, aimed at gradually increasing readers. The volume traces the typographic production intended for teachers and students, both in Bologna and its territory, investigates the history of the school-educational book, shows the contradictions and the innovative spirit of a political class.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
