This essay analyses certain aspects of women's lives at a time – the late 19th to the early 20th centuries – in which a gender identity redefinition process was under way in modernising Western nations. It will, in particular, examine the way in which journals conveyed gender issues, specifically those bound up with votes for women in the early years of the 20th century, on the basis of the politics-fashion coupling at a historical juncture in which fashion was making its mark on new feminist trajectories in national public legitimation terms.

Abstract
This essay analyses certain aspects of women's lives at a time – the late 19th to the early 20th centuries – in which a gender identity redefinition process was under way in modernising Western nations. It will, in particular, examine the way in which journals conveyed gender issues, specifically those bound up with votes for women in the early years of the 20th century, on the basis of the politics-fashion coupling at a historical juncture in which fashion was making its mark on new feminist trajectories in national public legitimation terms.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
