The aim of this paper is to examine the forms of the pretérito perfecto simple (PPS) and the pretérito perfecto compuesto (PPC) in a comprehensive corpus of Spanish grammars for Italian learners published in the 19th century. The analysis of the PPS/PPC opposition and of the features that characterise the grammatical description of these tenses is contextualised in Italian grammaticography and in the study of the work of Italian grammarian Pietro Bachi, whose perspective is of great interest for understanding the function of typological affinity between languages as a resource that justifies contrastivity.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to examine the forms of the pretérito perfecto simple (PPS) and the pretérito perfecto compuesto (PPC) in a comprehensive corpus of Spanish grammars for Italian learners published in the 19th century. The analysis of the PPS/PPC opposition and of the features that characterise the grammatical description of these tenses is contextualised in Italian grammaticography and in the study of the work of Italian grammarian Pietro Bachi, whose perspective is of great interest for understanding the function of typological affinity between languages as a resource that justifies contrastivity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
