The presence at the UNESCO World heritage Site of Persepolis of the Joint Archaeological Mission of the University of Bologna and of the Iranian Centre for Archaeological Research, represents a prestige activity acknowledged in Iran as well as in Europe and USA. The project includes archaeological exploration of the area surrounding the Achaemenid Terrace as well as documentation and conservation work on the monuments of the Terrace. At the end of each season, an Irano-Italian workshop has been organized. The Mission has the financial support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
