Traditional bullying and cyberbullying are analysed from a psychosocial perspective. There is a discussion on how the acting out of deviant behaviour can be an instrument of communication of an individual's own reputation and self image and can relate to the process of social identity formation during a phase of psychosocial moratorium such as adolescence. Finally, the most important psychosocial theories are discussed and some theories are re-thought of in the light of the present communicative and expressive changes for adolescents today.

Abstract

Traditional bullying and cyberbullying are analysed from a psychosocial perspective. There is a discussion on how the acting out of deviant behaviour can be an instrument of communication of an individual's own reputation and self image and can relate to the process of social identity formation during a phase of psychosocial moratorium such as adolescence. Finally, the most important psychosocial theories are discussed and some theories are re-thought of in the light of the present communicative and expressive changes for adolescents today.
