The link between Nature and female gender is so sacred that since the Classical Age extraordinary founding myths have been created: Demeter and Kore-Persephone, Dryades and Amadryades, metamorphosis of nymphs and young girls in plants or flowers. The medieval literature receive the legacy of this model by representing the lady in the courtly garden. Closed and protected, the garden abounds in plants, fruits, flowers, medicinal herbs. At the center of the garden a huge and mighty tree from which a source of clear and pure water flows. Next to the fountain and under the tree there is a young noblewoman: Blanchefleur, Fresne, the Flower-Maidens, the Lady of the Sycamore, the Olive Fairy.
