The present study is going to compare the history of Chinese immigrant entrepreneurs in Bologna and London and evaluate the economic and social similarities and differences between the two Chinese communities and enterprises. In particular, we aim to investigate whether migrant communities coming from the same country share similar characteristics everywhere, or whether they tend to diverge depending on the country they have chosen to move to. Do migrant entrepreneurs operate their businesses in accordance with the mentality and culture prevailing in the country of origin or in the country of destination? The incoming community’s adaptability to the market features of the destination society might or might not be an important factor in accounting for its business success.

Abstract
The present study is going to compare the history of Chinese immigrant entrepreneurs in Bologna and London and evaluate the economic and social similarities and differences between the two Chinese communities and enterprises. In particular, we aim to investigate whether migrant communities coming from the same country share similar characteristics everywhere, or whether they tend to diverge depending on the country they have chosen to move to. Do migrant entrepreneurs operate their businesses in accordance with the mentality and culture prevailing in the country of origin or in the country of destination? The incoming community’s adaptability to the market features of the destination society might or might not be an important factor in accounting for its business success.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
