The chapter examines the situation of critical infrastructures in Italy in the first 20 years of the new Millennium. Following the pattern of the Routledge companion, the authors identify the conditions that have characterised the government's approach to protecting the critical infrastructures of the country and what security problems Italy is facing, given that dependence on such infrastructures continues to grow as more services in the private sector and the public administration move online. Some policy recommendations are also included as conclusion of the chapter.
