On the basis of a comparison between legacies and conservation of assets in pagan texts (Ammianus Marcellinus) and Christians texts (Augustin, Liber Pontificalis) some reflections are given on the attention, present or absent in these texts, of the repertoires of goods from to preserve. Particularly interesting is the controversial donation of Constantine of the Liber Pontificalis: here, the presence of thymiatheria could lead one to consider the use of incense for the funeral in the Christian era under Constantine itself probable.
