The aim of the book is to provide a close reading of specific topics in Marx's work and at the same time to test its topicality in contemporary debates. The book is therefore organized around single entries. Our chapter tackles the question of colonialism, demonstrating that it was a major concern for Marx at least since the early 1850s. Focusing in particular on his writings on India, Ireland, and Atlantic slavery we emphasize the flexibility of Marx's thought and the several changes in his attitude that characterize his approach to colonialism. From this angle we engage in a critical discussion of postcolonial critiques of Marx's "Eurocentrism".

Abstract
The aim of the book is to provide a close reading of specific topics in Marx's work and at the same time to test its topicality in contemporary debates. The book is therefore organized around single entries. Our chapter tackles the question of colonialism, demonstrating that it was a major concern for Marx at least since the early 1850s. Focusing in particular on his writings on India, Ireland, and Atlantic slavery we emphasize the flexibility of Marx's thought and the several changes in his attitude that characterize his approach to colonialism. From this angle we engage in a critical discussion of postcolonial critiques of Marx's "Eurocentrism".I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
