Abstract
Myenteric ganglionitis Inflammation of the myenteric plexus observed during paraneoplastic gastrointestinal motility disorders. Histopathology shows a dense T cell-lymphocytic and plasma cell infiltrate that is primarily confined to the myenteric plexus; the involvement of the submucosal plexus may occur although it is less frequent than the myenteric one. Onconeural antibody Antibodies directed against neural antigens ectopically expressed by certain tumors; onconeural antibodies are frequently demonstrated in patients with paraneoplastic neurological syndromes. Paraneoplastic syndrome(s) Heterogeneous group of conditions characterized by a wide range of signs and symptoms in patients with malignant tumors, not directly attributable to tumor invasion or compression. The most common neurological paraneoplastic syndromes occur because of the immune cross-reactivity between tumor and normal host tissues, i.e. enteric or autonomic nervous systems.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
