Archeometrie della pittura parietale: il campione vesuviano in contesto

The archaeometry of materials, in Vesuvian sample too, hasn’t accomplished the transistion to the archaeology of production yet. An indispensable condition is, after the definition of a common code for all archaeologists and specialists of the exact sciences, chemists and physicists, the setting-up of shared strategies. As a privileged case-study for the amplitude and richness of the sample, the Vesuvian sites are waiting, still today, for a coordinated and integrated project, able to deeply enhance its potential. The first objective to reach is the systematic characterization, on a large scale, not only of the pygments and the colours, but also of the composition of “tectoria”. Last aim, the definition of the technical base of the Roman wall painting, following a method that can be similiar to the researches in progress on the pre-Roman wall painting.
