This essay is devoted to the peculiarities of teaching History of the Russian Language in Italy. The first part describes history and tendencies of teaching History of the Russian Language to Italian students. The second part comments data gathered from the Master’s Degree Course “Language, Society and Communication” at the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Bologna University. On these bases, conclusive remarks discuss possible directions in the future of teaching History of the Russian Language in Italy as a separate linguistic discipline.
