Une judéité effacée?

The chapter examines the inconsistency of Soviet propaganda policy about the genocide of the Jewish population. Systematic comparison of unused raw footage and edited film (news editions, short documentaries) shows a downplaying - if not a complete silencing - of the fact that a majority of the victims shown or evoked were killed because they were Jewish. On the other hand, the examination of simultaneous publications of the time, in the main newspapers of the country or in specially edited brochures, reveals a more lenient handling of this issue, allowing the Soviet citizens to identify the victims as predominantly Jewish (or assumed to be by their killers)

Il capitolo esamina l'incoerenza della politica di propaganda sovietica sul genocidio della popolazione ebraica. Il confronto sistematico di filmati grezzi inutilizzati e di filmati montati (edizioni di notizie, brevi documentari) mostra una minimizzazione - se non un completo silenzio - del fatto che la maggioranza delle vittime mostrate o evocate furono uccise perché erano ebree. D'altra parte, l'esame delle pubblicazioni simultanee dell'epoca, nei principali giornali del paese o in opuscoli appositamente redatti, rivela un trattamento più indulgente della questione, permettendo ai cittadini sovietici di identificare le vittime come prevalentemente ebree (o presunte tali dai loro assassini)
