This chapter examines the discovery - and restitution in raw footage and edited films - of a new type of persecution sites: the death centers situated on Polish territory (1944-45). The materials available in Russian archives are especially rich concerning the mixed camp of Majdanek (many reels of raw footage, notably several with sound, and a short documentary movie), while material difficulties impeded the filming of the opening of the camps of the Auschwitz-complex. Nevertheless, a short film was also produced. This chapter ponders notably on the differences between oriented filming (to convey specific meanings to the arrival of the Red Army), reenactment (organized post factum when the equipment was finally available) and staged filming of events that never happened (a practice proven by raw footage, but in this case severely condemned by the authorities, with a discarding of those images)

Abstract
This chapter examines the discovery - and restitution in raw footage and edited films - of a new type of persecution sites: the death centers situated on Polish territory (1944-45). The materials available in Russian archives are especially rich concerning the mixed camp of Majdanek (many reels of raw footage, notably several with sound, and a short documentary movie), while material difficulties impeded the filming of the opening of the camps of the Auschwitz-complex. Nevertheless, a short film was also produced. This chapter ponders notably on the differences between oriented filming (to convey specific meanings to the arrival of the Red Army), reenactment (organized post factum when the equipment was finally available) and staged filming of events that never happened (a practice proven by raw footage, but in this case severely condemned by the authorities, with a discarding of those images)I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
