The chapter offers striking images of several unachieved actions of destruction of the proofs of Nazi crimes led in the framework of "Sonderaktion 1005" launched in November 1942 - at the same time that both the UN and the Soviet investigative Commissions were created. In Slutsk, Klooga, Maly Trostinets (Minsk), the Red Army arrived a few hours after the departure of the enemy, only to find burning furnaces and a handful of survivors who witnessed to this operation.
