The article traces Master Eckhart's ethics of being as poetic, formal principal and as motif and motivation of the characters in Andreas Maier's novel "Kirillow": In order to live an authentic life, Maier's characters embrace medieval, mystic ethics of being. The search for truth and authenticity can be read, on the level of discours as well as on the level of histoire, as counter-movement to postmodernism.
