The essay investigates the role played by photography in the processes of construction and real-time narration of digital identities, by relating them to the experience of imaginary fiction, to the practices of microcelebrity and to the growing spectacularisation of the sphere of daily life. Furthermore, through the analysis of the behaviour adopted by artists and common people, it is possible to draw reflections relating to a widespread performative photographic exercise among the latter, which up to a few decades ago was almost exclusively the prerogative of artistic and fashion practices, and its specific relationship with digital technology and Social Media.

Abstract
The essay investigates the role played by photography in the processes of construction and real-time narration of digital identities, by relating them to the experience of imaginary fiction, to the practices of microcelebrity and to the growing spectacularisation of the sphere of daily life. Furthermore, through the analysis of the behaviour adopted by artists and common people, it is possible to draw reflections relating to a widespread performative photographic exercise among the latter, which up to a few decades ago was almost exclusively the prerogative of artistic and fashion practices, and its specific relationship with digital technology and Social Media.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
