In the last decade ivory diptychs have continued to stimulate debate among historians, art historians and archaeologists and have been protagonists of many exhibitions. These artefacts represent a very particular production that was affirmed during the Late Antiquity, remaining alive for centuries. The many problems posed by this class of materials are numerous and suggestive. Here a diptych classification is proposed based on the material and functional features.

Abstract
In the last decade ivory diptychs have continued to stimulate debate among historians, art historians and archaeologists and have been protagonists of many exhibitions. These artefacts represent a very particular production that was affirmed during the Late Antiquity, remaining alive for centuries. The many problems posed by this class of materials are numerous and suggestive. Here a diptych classification is proposed based on the material and functional features.File in questo prodotto:
