According to the expression of multiple identities, the structure of the ssas provides the participants with conferences, lessons, and seminars on various topics related to the theme proposed. It also emphasizes interactive learning experiences, as exemplified by its interdisciplinary docent staff. To this end the ssas will try to provide assistance to participants who are carrying out research projects on their own. In addition to its historical and literary contents, the ssas Program will also focus on contemporary open questions, such as ethnic and linguistical diversity within former Jugoslavia populations, including immigrant communities in Central and Western Europe. Other topic of the ssas is establishing a continuing project on the tourist industry evolution from the late 18th Century to the present, and its impact on society and cultural development in the Adriatic region, especially comparing Italian and Croatian coast in the last two centuries. Abstract

The aim of the ssas is primarily building models for documenting and examining the history of the Adriatic area in modern Europe, with a focus on the development of specific strategies to analyze materials of literary importance. The ssas Program will offer a large background in the fields of cultural history, social sciences, economic history, and literary anthropology (17th-20th Centuries). Guest speakers will be invited to discuss and investigate closely specific contemporary issues.
