On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the entry into force in Italy of the United Nation Convention on contracts for the international sale of goods, this paper provides an overview of the impact of the Convention on the Italian legal system. In view of the pursuance of this goal, it takes into account separately the impact of the Convention on Italian practising lawyers (thus making a distinction between litigation in court and the activity of contract drafting), on Italian legal scholarship (pointing out the high degree of attantion paid by Italian legal scholarship to the CISG in the course of time) and on Italian courts (with respect to which, a limited number of learned decisions stand out for their truly international attitute).
