The paper reviews and discusses several recent theories of embodiment, a notion that has become very prevalent in current research in a number of disciplines associated with cognitive science. However, there is no unified theory of embodiment, and different conceptions of body are implied in different theories. The paper claims that for a fully embodied semiosis we will need to overcome static, biological conceptions of the body, to take into account crucial components of embodied experience such as emotion, affect, subjectivity and intersubjectiviy, going, so to speak, beyond the body itself.

Abstract
The paper reviews and discusses several recent theories of embodiment, a notion that has become very prevalent in current research in a number of disciplines associated with cognitive science. However, there is no unified theory of embodiment, and different conceptions of body are implied in different theories. The paper claims that for a fully embodied semiosis we will need to overcome static, biological conceptions of the body, to take into account crucial components of embodied experience such as emotion, affect, subjectivity and intersubjectiviy, going, so to speak, beyond the body itself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
