The article suggests the assimilation of James Joyce's writing strategies to the process of trans-creation, a concept recently adopted in the field of translation studies (De Campos) as one of the characteristics that describe both the translation process and its outcome. Therefore this paper can be considered an original contribution both to translation studies and Joyce studies.
