The purpose of this study is to review and discuss economic and environ-mental benefits from the adoption of precision agriculture. Economic benefits are related to the reduction of operative costs due to agricultural input saving and increase in crop yield from better distribution of inputs associated with the use of variable rate technologies and site-specific control. The advantages of preci-sion agriculture include also the mitigation of negative environmental impacts arising from excessive exploitation of agricultural inputs. Findings highlight the changes in crop yield and input costs associated to the adoption of precision ag-riculture technologies compared to conventional agricultural practices, as well as the effect of the reduction of input application rates and environmental impacts on climate, soil, and water.
In questo studio vengono esaminati e discussi alcuni benefici economici e am-bientali derivanti dall’adozione dell’agricoltura di precisione. I benefici economicisono legati alla riduzione dei costi operativi dovuta al risparmio di input agricoli e all’aumento della resa delle colture grazie ad una migliore distribuzione degli input associati all’uso di tecnologie a tasso variabile e al controllo sito-specifico. I vantaggi dell’agricoltura di precisione includono anche la mitigazione di al-cuni impatti ambientali negativi derivanti dall’uso spesso eccessivo degli input agricoli. I risultati riportati evidenziano i cambiamenti nella resa delle colture e nei costi operativi associati alle tecnologie di agricoltura di precisione rispetto alle pratiche agricole convenzionali, nonché l’effetto positivo di alcuni impatti ambientali sull’ecosistema.
