Based on the empirical findings of the MYPLACE project, this chapter aims to answer the question: how the reported importance of history is practiced by young people in Telavi, and to what extent, if at all, does it lead to increased civic engagement – for example, when historical monuments are perceived to be in danger. The paper concludes that, in spite of reported high importance of remembering historical events and keeping traditions, the threats to historical sites, even when well realized, are not related to increased civic engagement of young people.

Abstract
Based on the empirical findings of the MYPLACE project, this chapter aims to answer the question: how the reported importance of history is practiced by young people in Telavi, and to what extent, if at all, does it lead to increased civic engagement – for example, when historical monuments are perceived to be in danger. The paper concludes that, in spite of reported high importance of remembering historical events and keeping traditions, the threats to historical sites, even when well realized, are not related to increased civic engagement of young people.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
