Aurelius Worod was one of the most eminent men in Palmyra during the rising of the city at the half of the third century AD. His career is known to us thanks to the relatively numerous inscriptions he left in various spots of the city. His profile is compatible with that of other people who, in different contexts, possibly played a similar role, managing trade commerce between the Roman empire and peoples outside. In this contribution, parallelism is drawn between the argapetes Worod (Palmyra) and the arabarchus Alexander (Eastern Desert, Egypt).

Abstract
Aurelius Worod was one of the most eminent men in Palmyra during the rising of the city at the half of the third century AD. His career is known to us thanks to the relatively numerous inscriptions he left in various spots of the city. His profile is compatible with that of other people who, in different contexts, possibly played a similar role, managing trade commerce between the Roman empire and peoples outside. In this contribution, parallelism is drawn between the argapetes Worod (Palmyra) and the arabarchus Alexander (Eastern Desert, Egypt).File in questo prodotto:
