The results of the research, first applications and further developments. Trevignano Romano and Sabaudia.

The firts part of the contribution highlights the results of the two years SoURCE research, basing on two necessary topic: the strength success of a well-balanced research program between theoretical production and practical application; the contents of the final outcomes in the context of international research, with the aim of evaluating if a useful product has been reached in the field of technological progress. Briefly, the overall ambition of the Source research was to, in chronological and methodological order: 1. produce a theoretical basis such as a new methodology; 2. apply it ideally to be able to verify, although in a theoretical model, the applicability; 3. apply it in the field to assess the importance and usefulness of the results. The first two years of research have produced a result based on a deep knowledge of the area of investigation (from first Trevignano Romano and then the Sabaudia case study has been added). That investigation has allowed to consider a number of factors that could affect the surfaces and the possibility of technologies installation for the exploitation of renewable resources. The second part of the contribution describes the recent EU politics about climate and energy issues. Finally, it introduces the concept of Near Zero Energy Building (NZEB) and presents some case studies and design and technical solutions.
