The psychopathologicl features of reurrent depression are described. A new treatment appoch is presented and proposed. It consists of a sequentil administration of drug treatment for the acute phse of depression, followed by psychotherapy for the residual phase of the illness. The psychotherpeutic treatment is focused on residual symptoms and quality of life of depresed patients. I controlled investigations It has ben found particularly effective in preventing relapse episode.
