La edición (¿crítica?) de gramáticas antiguas: cuestiones preliminares

When someone wants to performing a critical edition of a grammatical text (indeed, of any other type of text), he will necessarily have to make numerous decisions as the work progresses. And while it is almost impossible for the editor —even with a deep knowledge of the work and a fertile imagination— to foresee all the variants and dificulties that the edition will propose to him, this cannot exempt him from a preliminary obligatory task: asking himself a series of questions, the answers to which, once the work is undertaken, will help to adopt these decisions in a coherent way. This study addresses these questions and proposes some answers: Why edit an old text?, Which differences are between edit a grammar or edit a literary work?, What kind of editing is most appropriate for an old grammar? What role does the ectotics tradition play in editing a grammar? What possibilities do the new technologies other to an edition such as the one outlined here?
