The UNECE Protocol on Water and Health for the Implementation of the right to drinking water and sanitation

The Chapter analyses the 1999 London Protocol on Water and Health. It first provide an overview of the London Protocol, focusing on its substantial due diligence obligations. Second, the study addresses the role of international cooperation in implementing the right at issue. Third, it briefly addresses the role and procedure of the compliance review mechanism will be briefly addressed. Fourth, it analyses the relationship between the London Protocol and other human rights-related documents. Finally, some concluding remarks are made with a view to addressing the practical aspects of the implementation and enforcement of the obligations of the London Protocol.
