The purpose of this paper is to show how traditional representation methodologies (i.e. orthogonal and axonometric projections) can represent the complexity and the development of historical city centers. These methodologies allow to compare historical iconographic heritage and views of the cities with the actual assets of their complex urban scapes. The case study is the historical city center of Bologna. Its representation has been organized using different levels of detail, in order to provide the most appropriate information depending on the scale of the visualization and on communication aims. The whole representation of the historical center of Bologna has been deepened studying facades of buildings facing on the most important road axis of the city at an architectural scale.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show how traditional representation methodologies (i.e. orthogonal and axonometric projections) can represent the complexity and the development of historical city centers. These methodologies allow to compare historical iconographic heritage and views of the cities with the actual assets of their complex urban scapes. The case study is the historical city center of Bologna. Its representation has been organized using different levels of detail, in order to provide the most appropriate information depending on the scale of the visualization and on communication aims. The whole representation of the historical center of Bologna has been deepened studying facades of buildings facing on the most important road axis of the city at an architectural scale.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
