La passività del sentire. Alterità e sensibilità nel pensiero di Levinas

The book aims to investigate the issue of sensibility in the thought of Emmanuel Levinas, with particular reference to his revision of subjectivity in terms of sensibility and passivity, which is developed in Otherwise than Being and in later writings. Levinas identifies the origin of ethical signification in the feeling of the subject, who feels a responsibility from which she cannot escape. This concept, which Levinas elaborates through a confrontation with Husserl, is configured as a peculiar transcendental aesthetic, in which the original passive synthesis is that of the sensitive body.

Il volume si propone di approfondire la questione della sensibilità nel pensiero di Emmanuel Levinas, con particolare riferimento alla sua rivisitazione della soggettività in termini di sensibilità e passività, sviluppata in Altrimenti che essere e negli scritti tardi. Levinas individua l'origine della significazione etica nel sentire del soggetto, che avverte una responsabilità alla quale non può sottrarsi. Tale concezione, che Levinas elabora attraverso un confronto con Husserl, si configura come una singolare estetica trascendentale, in cui l'originaria sintesi passiva è quella del corpo sensibile.
