Abstract

«Dangerous luxury between nature and culture», this is the synthetic definition that Andreas Becker and the other members of the research group on the experience and aesthetic perception of the University of Frankfurt gave to "Mimikry" the volume that focused the field of studies around mimicry. And, indeed, what is at stake in the family of terms that, in the larger plexus mimesis, imitation, mimicry, delimit the area in close connection with the animal world is the interest in the phenomena that in it, or for analogy with it in the human world, take place below, or at least to the limit, the level of consciousness. «Mimicry», «Tarnung», «Mimese», «camouflage», «camouflage», «embodied simulation», «mimetic contagion», «biomimcry», «social mimicry» all have their crucial point in the positive relationship or negative within them with conscious intention or, at least, with the sphere of action guided by some sort of image or representation.the book reconstructs the contribution of Elias Canetti and Roger Caillois to the discussion on mimicry, metamorphosis and the different forms of conscious and unconscious imitation.
