In this chapter, some notes are presented on the reasons for the development of the TOX-OER project and on the role of the author in this endeavor. The main characteristics are discussed, which make the TOX-OER project unique and potentially very attractive for both prospective students and higher education institutions. The author strongly believes that education and all kinds of knowledge should be free and easily available to everyone, everywhere, and that the TOX-OER project is a significant step in this direction, a collaborative work that can be an example for many colleagues.
