The COSMO-LEPS limited-area ensemble prediction system, currently operational at ECMWF is described, based on an original technique of reduction of the number of ensemble elements. The system is operated remotely by ARPA-SIM, Bologna, Italy, and operational results are distributed to all COSMO Member States.
