The aim of this chapter is to review existing literature discussing the role of networks for innovation and reflect upon the peculiarities related to temporary and project-based organizations. Authors aim to address some of the critical issues related to a better understanding of how diverse network structures impact on innovation. Indeed, literature has highlighted that an “optimal” network structure is difficult to identify, as the context in which the network is embedded, the characteristics of the actors and the object of their relationships vary widely across industries and time.
